In relation to the area, that is the issue we're currently encountering.

So when you are looking at HUD houses, in an area with transfer taxes, you won't be surprised to encounter this.And with REO, some banks (even when it has nothing to do with Fed Gov't) shift as many closing costs as they can to the buyer of the REO.

It'll at least get you past that hurdle until you encounter the next hurdle. :-)

And, it is very unlikely to encounter a great deal of government/political interference.

All of the appraisers that I have encountered utilize the MLS for comps.

My first reaction is don't get too caught up with the sticker prices there, ie-much lower list prices than many areas in NJ/PA.
