When you buy the property, you should factor in interior paint depending on where you got the property. i.e.Buy an offmarket house from a distressed seller...you calculate your MAO then subtract [insert number for what it'll cost to paint house + trim...in GA, you can get it done for $1.5-$2/sq ft).

Don't bother with storms or trying to bring back the single-panes to life - it costs more to do either or both of those than it does to replace them with an insert, and you'll have a better product in the end too.Assuming the wood jams are structurally ok, remove the sash and insert the cheapest vinyl replacement you can find.$150-$200 in materials around here per standard window for the window, trim and caulk.

We went with adding a nice rock fireplace for looks  possible smell and I had ran across a nice insert with brass trimmed glass doors super cheapSo it was used on the only fire job we did just like Steven S mentioned (we thought we could still smelled smoke and the fireplace would be a natural cause)
