So I live in Silicon Valley and I am accustomed to seeing Car "candy"; yes those beautiful Audis, BMWs, Porsches, Benz (my dream business car is an Audi A8...maybe someday...).

It's a place where the regulatory environment has created inefficiencies that you can take advantage of in order to get a cash-flowing property, and then you can hold it for a really long time while Silicon Valley does what it does. 

If you've ever watched Silicon Valley, it's like Jin Yang's "Hotdog" app.

It also seems that this will be the silicon valley with several fortune 500 companies leasing thousands of commercial sq ft in Brickell.

Because then you can't regularly inspect the exterior for points of water ingress and hit it with your plain-jane lasts-forever GE silicone, and if you have windows with exterior trim that's so far gone paint and silicone won't seal it, then you really should be replacing it with PVC trim anyway.Especially in an elderly place originally built with double-sash windows with counterbalancing weights...these days I wouldn't use an installation company if they paid me.

Maybe because it has been glamorized by silicon valley or maybe because generational businesses are getting to be a thing of the past. 

Prices in San Francisco are already ultra high - almost 10x of my home town Milwaukee - and they are still going up.Now of course Milwaukee does not have a silicone valley (even though a very robust economy) so real estate will probably never be anywhere close to those levels.

Austin has successfully portrayed itself as Silicon Hills.

We siliconed the quarterround at the kitchen cabinet bases...yes it even survived in the kitchen with only a bit of peaking in a seam in front of the sink.
