I think the awareness it's getting is good for hygiene, people should be doing this during regular flu seasons anyway such as not going to work or riding public transport sick, sneezing/coughing into their elbow etc.Regards to the impact its all media hype, flu kills tonnes more people.

With sewer lines on a single-family I have had the tenant share the bill if the clogging culprit is their fault (a t-shirt, feminine stuff, baby wipes).
