The thermostat is toward the rear of the apartment and the current baseboard heaters are near the front.

Sometimes I'll get an attorney and they want a contract so I put together a one page document with the relevant facts and they are happy.For everyone else I use email to confirm the details.I still have my STR insurance policy.I also have control of the thermostats and water heater via wifi.

You might look into something like a thermostat plastic cover/lock option, but again if they want to reset the wifi box that bad, they probably know how to YouTube lock picking and can easily open up a basic lock box type lock.A lot of the wifi systems these days allow a mesh type network to allow for more coverage.
