In the US, I suppose Detroit is the closest.

If you still have doubts, visit or look online at the closest rentals in the price range. 

Meeting everyone at the same time keeps them all a little more honest, with more steak than sizzle, IMO.

Typically, Harris County sells three to four times the number of properties then the next closest counties, Dallas and Tarrant.

I "love" tenants with occupations such as cocktails, bartendar, steak house waitress, resturants waitress, butlers, table game dealers, floor supervisors in the strip casino!  

The closest that I can find properties like this seems to be the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area of Pennsylvania, which is about a 2 to 2.5 hour drive, which isn't terrible, but certainly not a commute I'd be making a regular basis.  

It would be like asking a restaurant to break down the cost of a steak, servers pay and salad dressing.
