If you are in a growing market, I'd keep anything that you rehab if it's at least cash flow neutral as an LTR- you can always try it out as an STR and if that doesn't work, revert back.

Too many times I have seen the most confounding electrical issues end up being due to some handy person's "repair", crossing the neutral over on a switched line when connecting to K&T, or worse.
