The FI market has the strongest correlation with the stock market (although it's negative) and only is only loosely correlated with real estate prices.Not to mention you're going to have to pay the ETF fees.If I really wanted to hedge (which I don't) I'd short a REIT that most closely mirrors my investments (single family residential in my case).

For example, if the legal now states that from a point of beginning you go 600 feet east, the new legals could be 100 feet east then mirror the description back to the point of beginning, for the next hundred feet. it would begin 100 feet from the original point running east.
