I'm also in LA and am thinking of attending the Manhattan Beach FIBI.  

I am originally from South Africa, but now live in Manhattan Beach, California.

It may be close, but just because you can see Manhattan from there doesn't mean it's easy to get back and forth.

The argument “everyone has a right to shelter” i can agree but I do not think everyone has a right to live in Manhattan.

If its priced aggressively, I'd say within a week, but if you try to rent individual rooms its a lot more work for slightly more return.Living room--probably not, its Houston, not Manhattan or SF

Ive been doing my research here in manhattan new york..

I've even seen it done in Manhattan..  

I work in the Midtown Manhattan so the duplex strategy wouldn't be practical for anything outside the boroughs
