I'm a transplant here too and have fallen in love with the city.

We have many transplants here, they are very active in local affairs and work to implement the same policies that they are running away from... blows my mind. 

I always tell transplants to rent here first to get the lay of the land.

With divorced parents, a sister and Mom moving to Boise, ID where the transplant CA population is like 80%, I think I'm well qualified to speak about this situation.

Idaho has become a popular destination for transplants from California, particularly from San Francisco and Silicon Valley.

The one voice saying not to buy is a Real Estate Investor from San Diego.For me, as a recent Portland transplant as well (moved for family), looking to get into real estate investing, I was hoping pre-COVID to get into the market locally, but now I'm thinking I may start looking in the outer suburbs, perhaps north of the border in Washington), or in other states completely.

The low cost of living has lead to an influx of transplants over the past few years.
