., Cat 5 Ethernet, Cable TV, USB ports galore?

Our solution for a smaller property was to install the DVR in a locked cabinet in the basement, running the ethernet cable up to the apartment above (when it was vacant).

One thing that we like about them is that they don't need a power source as they are POE (get power from the ethernet wire).

Add ethernet cat5 or cat6 wiring in every room except the bath(s) and bring them together in some hall closet would be fundamental IMO. 

- Budget- Permits- Foundation- Demolition- Framing - Windows and Doors- Roofing- Exterior Siding- HVAC Rough-In- Plumbing Rough-In- Electrical Rough-In- Structured Wiring Rough-In (Internet, Ethernet, Coax, Speakers, etc)- Insulation Batts- Framing Punchout (misc framing needed to account previous trades cutting holes and maybe needing soffits due to hvac or plumbing)- Drywall (Hang, Tape, Skim, and Sand)- Insulation Blow-In (if needed)- Trim (Base, Case, Crown, Kitchen Cabinets, Vanities, Etc)- 1st Paint- Granite Templating- Ceramics / Tile- Vinyl- HVAC Final- Electrical Final- Hardwood Flooring- Plumbing Final- Structured Wiring Final- Install Granite- First Clean (clean up all bathrooms and kitchens)- Drywall Point Up (takes care of all over cuts or mis-cuts from above contractors)- 2nd Paint- Carpet- Drywall Blue Tape- Paint Touch Up- Final Clean (remove hardwood floor coverings and plastic on the carpets)- Punchout (your guy to do the grout caulking, door adjusting, fine tuning)

The general idea is to renovate the kitchen with new cabinet & counter top; Update all the restrooms; patch up all walls; remove pop-corn ceiling, repaint whole house; re-sand and re-stain all the hardwood floor; some plumbing work; install can lights in all rooms; move some lighting fixtures; add/move switches and wire for Ethernet.

As a propeller-headed IT geek, here's what I know: With regard to the setup/installation, I would do a network video recorder with PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras.

It connects to the router through the ethernet port-- I want that to be visually hidden as well.Any ideas here ???

Units are also Cat5 Ethernet wired and include top-of-the-line lighting fixtures.

The gateway is designed to be connected to an internet router by ethernet cable and is not able to wirelessly connect.
