I know this sounds harsh but think about it.

Also air circulation is not often that great and the air sometimes is a bit harsh esp if you have the boiler in the basement etc

The chemical reaction literally cooks it's self into a hard plastic. 

Not trying to be harsh, as being the victim of abuse is no laughing matter, but understand that the couple isn't the only two people drawn into the legal web when abuse occurs. 

  ( just to use their space, swimming pool, etc, trash and water are included and sewer.Sometimes the lot will have to screen your tenants, it can be very harsh at times.

Building wealth is a long-term greedy endeavor and those who have been around the block will tell you that death, divorce, harsh recessions, random life events and all manner of things can derail your success and you have little or no control over many of these things. 

I guess I just needed a sanity check that I was not being unduly harsh or unfair to the tenant.

Septic tanks, even though they're full of crap (no pun intended), are sensitive things - the bacteria are highly susceptible to overload, bacteria soaps, bleach, chemicals, and other stuff that simply won't break down or will kill off the bacterial load.
