@Aaron McGinnisThe plasterer that has worked on a couple of my projects was telling me he started his plaster apprenticeship  program in 1952 (he's now in his mid eighties and still does small jobs).

When I started as a apprentice carpenter which involved a 4 year apprenticeship to include school.

Your state may vary.When you are working through your apprenticeship, search for a company that specializes in real estate and you'll get all the experience you could possibly handle.  

I'm and apprentice carpenter and got 2 years to finish my apprenticeship but I don't want to do this my whole life .

Both of which I would take as many classes as needed and attempt to get an apprenticeship or internship position.

@Brian McHenry  40 years of apprenticeship.. you just don't wake up one day and become a developer you have to grow into it..
