when your only putting up 10% risk money I can see why you would do this.. not a big deal if you lose 5 to 10k.. but you certainly would not want to hand over a 50 to 500k check without having thourougly checked it all out. out our way auctions are cash and carry cash on the barrel head time of auction.. no do overs .. you bid you hand over cashiers check you own it... that day that time.. no waiting. so if you foul up you could be out a ton of dough  being that our average sale amount is about 250k..
