I have a relative who just installed the Ultra version, and I am thinking of doing the same, so here is what I have found in my research so far:  Trafficmaster Allure has the grip strip (adhesive strips built in), and the video on Home Depot's website under that particular product shows that you have to use a leveler for any grout lines greater than 1/4" as the planks are flexible and the grout lines (or other defects) will become visible over time.

Use the home inspection to negotiate the price down if it shows significant defects. 

Foundation issues depending on the area your investing can be very expensive, structural defects may require an engineer as well as heavy permitting which increases capital outlay.

Two have been accepted, but inspections showed some serious defects.

He is looking for functional and physical defects primarily, that affect the appraised value.

Insurance is expensive for residential contractors due to the number of claims that can arise out of a construction defect.

That will give you the process and cost to cure the defect for the physical property.

Also pointing out all the defects of the house to the bank helps as well.
