The minimum policy I get is $300K but I have an umbrella policy over all of the rentals that is a lot more.Hope that helps.

You should also have an umbrella insurance policy on your LLC.The JV does not offer anyone asset-protection, however, since you can record a memorandum or notice, you can notify any would be claimants that you have a vested interest in the assets.

Before the current mortgage system was in place, all mortgage loans were based on the hard asset, and not on soft criteria, such as credit and dti.So in my opinion, most hard money falls under the umbrella term private money, if private money means non-institutional money.Fast forward to now, and the terms have become intermingled, and sometimes have negative connotations.
