Hiring Carpenter and his brother with no insurance or business

Hello, I would like to know if anyone in their right mind would hire someone who knows what they are doing, but has no insurance or a business name. He does work on the side and has his brother and side helper to get things done. I'm sure he knows what he's doing, but I have concerns as he has no insurance. What kind of troubles could occur hiring someone this way? He is reasonable with price and he is willing to sign any kind of contract I present to him, but I'm wondering if there are any pitfalls that could land on my shoulders. Thank you.

Just ask yourself, "If he gets injured or dies on the job, and I get sued and lose everything I own, would it be worth it?"

If the answer is yes, go ahead and use him.
