A little trick to ease the removal of wallpaper is to use a warm water mixed with fabric softer, sponge the wallpaper (saturate) and it should help release the paper.

MTL is a beautiful city, I lived there for several years back in the 80s and still go back whenever I can.Brandon and Justin are correct, there is a wealth of information here; much of it universal, though some specific to the U.S.A.
