We let the dead grasses remain through Winter for a nice aesthetic and cut them down in the Spring after the first couple of new shoots pop up.No more Spring mulching, almost no weeding if plastic was put down, leaves blow right off in the Fall and a great curb appeal that many properties don't have around here.

if you are landscaping out there def. no or few plants.... maybe plastic under rock to keep water further away (sloped of course)

There were some plastic planter boxes on the ground and an open bag of soil on a deck box, a bottle of insecticide in the grass where I fell and 2 partially empty water bottles thanks to kids.

Everything in the house that was plastic had to be replaced.I realize that this thread discusses the damage to structure not contents but think of all the plastic items inside a house.The irony to my friend's story is the fire department was literally across the parking lot (less than a 9 iron away).

taking a drawer with you when you look at colors is a great idea.Also, check out the faux metal backsplash stuff they have a Lowes/Home Depot these days- 20'x20' squares of this plastic stuff, easy to install (glue it on) and really looks nice.
