Funding repairs out of your own pocket or another entity, making mortgage payments from your personal account, taking rent checks into a different account, etc, can allow the corporate veil to be pierced.

I suggest reading up on piercing the veil in your state and learn how other people have lost their liability protection.Often times it's acting in a way that presents an alter ego, which means basically on paper you have two entities, but in dealings with others, there is only one.

If you have a mortgage on the property that is a layer of protection in itself as the bank mostly owns the property.LLC gives no tax benefit adds extra fees and paperwork and if not treated correctly gives you no protection as an attorney can easily pierce the corporate veil.

That said, if you have an LLC, your rents for the properties in the LLC should go directly into your LLC bank account..not your personal account or you could possibly "pierce the corporate veil"...which means if your business gets sued they can come after you personally.Just trying to help, but obviously I failed at it lol
