Making our Long Term rental an LLC

Maurice Stewart
Posted

Hi,

My wife and I live in Northern California and are in the process of renting out our house long-term. Our rental will be in a different town than our primary bank. We want to start the process of making the rental an LLC. Do we have to go through the city where the rental is located for the tax ID number? Can we get a business account from a bank in a different town? This will be our first rental property; if you've gone through the process of getting started, my wife and I would love some direction.

@Maurice Stewart the business bank account for LLCs can be in a different town. You'll get a Federal Employment ID Number (EIN) and the State of California has SOS file number for LLCs.
