Is the number of vouchers given out for Section 8 properties limited and based on your experiences does it make any sense for me to invest in area where the houses are significantly cheaper as low as 25,000 and use them strictly as section 8 properties.

I LOVE poetic justice.....Internal Revenue Service employees in Tennessee were stealing unemployment and other benefits while fully employed.On Thursday, 13 of those employees were indicted on federal charges that they lied to get unemployment, food stamps, welfare and housing vouchers.

Hi I would like to know how are landlords receiving move in fees and first months rent from first time tenants with section 8 vouchers and how much are the move in fees maybe the percentage if not a flat fee.

I also find it important to see what their goal is in the future, I always ask them what they would do if they lost their voucher (What is their back up plan?).

As you know, the voucher goes with the tenant and in my experience, the tenants are harder on the houses than non Section 8 tenants.

Gina - I have been doing this rental thing for over 40 years - we have over 80 rentals and only one is a section 8 (voucher) - they do pay on time - but I was never attracted to that program - at times the tenants are - well - a problem.Stay in touch - always glad to help a fellow investor in Baltimore.
