Troy, don't mind my selfish promotion but if you look at my signature you can see I have a solution to your questions.

I'm dismayed at the amount of greed and selfishness that fuels people's lives.

But am I being selfish?

Am I being selfish, short sighted, or naive to expect any ownership/equity from a deal that I am not putting any money into myself?

Even if it's subconscious, the opinions and optimism posted on this site have a built-in selfish tendency to encourage people to buy real estate.

Bernie believes that young folks are not doing better than their parents and their parents are not doing better than their parents.Gen Z has taken up the thoughts that the Boomer Generation is absolutely selfish and has already put into motion the destruction of the world with their denial of Climate issues, hence Greta Thunberg and the phrase "OK Boomer."

One thing I learned was to share success and not be selfish, so if you would like to chat just connect.   

The reason for doing so would be multi faceted; largely to house additional family when they come in town, possibly help to speed the pay-down of the overall mortgage (even though we would be taking a HELOC to partially fund the new ADU), and selfishly have been considering a pool with the idea that we could ultimately offset some of the monthly cost from the income generated by the ADU via AirBnB or long term rental.
