The project took awhile as I had to continue operating my business and had two surgeries and 9 months of rehab in addition to other health issues during this project but we finally got her finished.

We thought we could just replace the plastic bubble on the skylight. 8 bolts, a new bubble, and we are down the road.

I've seen in very durable plastic with non-slip surface.. otherwise I'd replace each stair tread and then put this covering over it.. 

I would fill in with the solid plastic Restoration or similar, a can of non expand window and door spray foam and whatever it took for good looking trimA perfect DIY project for an hour or three. 

It hasn't been a week yet and  I have heard all types of situations from emergency surgery, grandmother dying, or I need to move asap or I lose my voucher.

At first I was thinking about having it refinished but now thinking about replacement.Would you recommend plastic, fiberglass, or cast iron?

There isn't much cost between those and the hard plastic mirror hangers when its all said and done.

No offense, but just jumping in, as is often recommended, is as dumb as doing surgery on yourself because you read a medical book.
