Pros: properties are affordable there (especially compared to MA), easy direct flights from Boston, great tourist destination (so there's a possibility to rent through AirBnB for supplemental income), tax advantages if we ever move there full time, etc.Cons: PR's default (could result in higher taxes), high unemployment rate, locals leaving the island en masse, etc.

Over the last couple of months I have been seriously searching for opportunities in the region that would be able to provide cash flow to add supplemental income to my current career.  

I buy notes like this as a supplement to my rental strategy, not as the meat and potatoes.

I say currently, because I plan within the next 2-4 years to make REI a full time commitment, as my passive income grows to supplement at least 80% of my current earned income.I am looking forward to gaining experience by receiving coaching/mentoring advice though the BP community, and taking a hands-on approach to REI.

I'd recommend that you get your hands on as many books as you can about real estate investing and read them to supplement the knowledge you get from here.

I live near Buffalo, NY, and am considering getting into the rental area mainly as a supplement to retirement.

We decided to become members of BP to investigate real estate investing as a means to supplement our IRAs. 

I'm in this business to help people as well as to supplement my fulltime income.

I currently work a full time 9-5 and I hope to supplement some income on the side and maybe use this as a future retirement option.
