I havebeen reading up on it and it seems there is no easy fix but to scrape, prep, prime and repaint the plaster ceilings all over...So I now have 5 ceilings that are a complete mess peeling flaking ETC...HAs anyone else been through this nightmare before?

If the cedar wood is all good except for a couple of boards then buying a few boards and repaint, caulk, and seal makes sense.

Too many variables on actual cost (unless you are doing very similar units in a very similar market).....and I've seen quite wide ranges on some lifespan numbers too, but you can get rough ideas on how long a roof should last on average...an appliance.....re-paint....carpet etc.....So I would use the % as a good start and you can always get more detailed analysis IF it passes the first analysis
