I once had something similar and that turned out to be a blockage on the air intake, windy day where a plastic grocery bag got sucked into the intake pipe just enough to completely block the pipe opening outdoors.

When painting with oil based primer/paint/polyurethane, wrap the used brush and/or roller in left over plastic bags and store in the freezer.
