In other words, if this person has 40 rental properties that are underwater, the bank isn't going to want to loan on a personal residence, even if the guy is a doctor with great W2 income.It sounds like the stuff they're asking for is pretty typical - but if you don't think so why not just go with another lender?

I look at it much like someone having a car accident and going to the hospital, doesn't mean the hospital or doctor doesn't send them a bill, as that is expected :).
