I've seen two separate references to this house talking about how it had a wooden stockade built around it, in the mid 1700's sometime, so that people from the surrounding area could come there to take refuge from indian attack.

I had to get over the feeling that every tenant is going to notice all the things i didn't improve as soon as they walk in.I recently had my triplex appraised and while doing the walk-through with the appraiser we started talking about the old wooden windows and how i wanted to get them all replaced with new vinyl windows (this is in a C neighborhood).

Sacramento's median home price is $350k so you're not getting much there... but Stockton's median home price is $270k, so you can afford nearly half the homes for sale there.You can't go Northwest to Napa and the rest of the wine country, you'll pay the same as Bay Area if not more.
