My contractor advised against doing LVT on the stairs (said it just always looks bad) so it seems like I’ll put carpet there (didn't want to do this but there's no hardwood underneath the current carpet).

Then if you ever go to sell the house you rip up the cheap flooring that has basically protected the hardwood floor underneath and refinished the hardwood floor to its best luster. it makes no sense to refinish the floors and get tenants that are going to wear and tear them down over years and then have to refinish them again in order to sell it.

We were also about to put brand new LVP flooring throughout the downstairs when we noticed this issue....Recently, we had noticed the slope in our upstairs bedroom getting slightly worse, our window wouldn't close and it feels like some floorboards underneath the carpet are starting to come up so we contacted a foundation/basement company to come look at the issue.
