Property should be convenient to work, shopping, parks, churches etc.As far as the property itself: for single family I like 3br 2bath, 1500sqft, 1 car garage.  

Lifestyles has a San Antonio office and runs regular free workshops to give you an idea of buy and hold strategies. 

(Maybe you could justify an gym or workshop?) 

There is a landlord workshop and social put on by OQPY featuring mortgage broker Wayne Martin as keynote speaker Thursday January 23rd at college boreal ( Salle Watters) starts 7:00pm.

Pro Habber: I could email you a few pics of the house, and property.It's indeed a big house, although its just a 3 bdrm 3 bath, with a few extra rooms, ad good size den, double chininey, 2 "great rooms", one long skinny room the guy used to work out of his home in, a small room with no known designation, and a little workshop room....of course the room where the indoor pool is located.

I'm also curious if anyone knows of any opportunities, workshops, events, or classes where I can shadow the entire process of another investor over weekends and or perhaps even volunteer with rehab projects. 

The property also had a well on it and a large 1600 square foot workshop.

Secondly, you definately need to educate yourself with much of the basics right here on BP first and for Free. this way, you have a basic understabnding of many startegies,. terms, etc. and then can understand and more importantly, apply what you learn in a valid (and not too expensive) seminar or workshop taught by an actual investor who does what he teaches (in otherwords, is an investor first, and speaker/educator second)

In fact, I learned an interesting statistic in a workshop today...Just five years ago, roughly 11% of single family homes were occupied by renters.
