I've run into several issues with properties I've considered buying where land or deed restrictions would have required joining adjacent land parcels, which sparked my interest in the process. 

With the housing market as a whole cooling off a bit and civil unrest around the country/world how do you plan on making money in all aspects?

Once you can identify an opportunity for them to generate more revenue then you are of value to them and it could potentially lead to networking with more people from their circle / could spark a potential mentorship.  

I'm not sure what "tread" means -- but if you meant to say "thread" then my goal of starting this thread was to spark discussion among other Houston area investors that would be insightful and also encouraging to me, the community and others that may be interested in investing there.
