FWIW, I'm military, have spent many of my own $$$ on training, and don't believe anybody should make the choice lightly.

Being military my spouse and I would purchase a house every 3-4 years and buy and hold.

You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing, vacation rentals and military housing.

But 2 universities in the area are doing well & government employers (military and federal prison complex) have driven the economy along and I'd expect the city to continue to improve.Jennifer Atterson is a realtor I worked with in TH who was fantastic and I'd recommend her to an REI buyer.

@Braden Hobbs couple things to consider:1- they could have renewed a year lease with you only to break them after a couple months with the deployment orders, but they chose to let you know well in advance which helps you quite a bit.2- usually single military will move there stuff into a storage unit while deployed because they still get the housing allowance and can save what they were paying in rent.

I look forward to getting into this new realm and I'm glad it's been working out for other military members.
