Updated almost 8 years ago,
my start up plan and quick who am I summary
My name is Joseph Furdock. I am currently using the GI Bill attending york tech community college, perusing a business degree. I am 25 years old, Afghan veteran with honorable discharge from the marine corp. After I got out of the military I did alot of traveling. I have taking 2 trips around the country going form national park to national park, I also Hike a quarter if the Appalachian trail last summer. ever sense I was deployed to Japan in the USMC I've been slowly reading and trying to self educate myself for about 4 years about anything that can relate to real estate. The reason I personally want to become a real estate investor is not because of the big get rich quick hype. Its because I can stand having a boss, who usually doesn't know what there talking about. I quickly learned in the military working for "the man" is not for me and hope to be able to be my own boss.
Our plan
My fiancee and I are looking to buy a small( under 1000sf) 2 bed room home for 50,000. I will use the VA loan with no money down by showing my VA disability as my main source of income.
The house we currently live is owned buy her friends and just required to pay the mortgage. Making a deal with him that we keep paying the mortgage and allow use to do what we want (rent it out).
From there my fiancee who is a veteran and shows a higher income than I do will take a VA loan to purchase a 2-4 plex. we don't have a place in mind yet for the multi unit but are planning on being prepared when the opportunity comes around.
We are in no rush and want to make sure we have everything in line before jumping to far in.
Theres a little bit about me and a light outline on my plan. This is my first time writing on a forum so sorry I wander and ramble. With that said I, would love to hear what you think and don't be afraid to criticize. I would rather learn from you then learn from 1000s of $$$ in mistakes.
