I would say this, if you wanted to find cheaper tax preparation you 100% could but it might cost you more in the form of incorrect tax returns or inflated amounts of tax due.

If I am incorrect, you probably need to pay the mortgage anyways since they can now foreclosure since the property isn't owned by a veteran anymore the SCRA shouldn't apply and even if the lender doesn't realize it it won't apply forever and you'll eventually need to pay it PLUS the amount is rising with interest, fees etc.

My lawyer did a deep dive and discovered that it appears the county tax appraiser erroneously removed the husband from the title one year when updating the parcel tax record, probably incorrectly reading the divorce agreement and not actually looking up to see if a quit claim had been signed.
