Hello Bigger Pockets Community,I am currently facing an issue with a property that I’ve recently put under contract and I’m in need of your expert advice.Upon conducting a snake sewer line inspection, we discovered a water blockage in the pipeline.

But the sewer scope found a blockage so it was worth it.

If you don't take steps to resolve it, you are responsible for further damage.Once you have stopped the bleeding, you should then be reaching out to your own insurance company because your property will need to be cleaned up and that won't be covered by the tenant's insurance.Figure out the total cost of the damages, what caused the blockage,who, if anyone had responsibility for fixing the issue.  

You might also revisit your instructions to incoming Tenants to include more complete instructions on what they should/should not put down it, and more importantly the proper procedure(s) for doing so to avoid many blockages.

That is why you have constant blockages on the narrow steets and endless construction projects.

(Often you can "solve" low flow of a hot water faucet by changing any/all elbows you can access from the water heater to that faucet.)So, the short answer to your question is...when repair costs due to plumbing leaks and/or blockages start rising notably, or you are observing several signs of hidden leaks.Once you are past the 25 -30 year mark, you are bound to have more leaks, stoppages, and low flow (as well as prior, poor, repairs).

They are so hard on washers and dryers that you're constantly replacing them or fixing blockages or cleaning up overflows that create water damage.

Anyway, I called a plumber, and they got the backup cleaned, found the line, popped an "emergency" diagnosis hole in it so they could scope and found the 4" cast iron line rusted through in the bottom which was causing the periodic blockages. 

The sewer was backing up and I paid way too much money trying to get others to clear the blockage.
