But since my husband keeps running the numbers and saying he's "done" working (and/or he wants to work in Asia :) ) we need a more considered plan.We're headed back to the US for an extended family visit and are considering purchasing another property in the Denver/northern Colorado area (mainly to help a family member).

So you may only have the 'conflict of laws' issue when attempting to deal simultaneously in Europe, Middle East, Asia etc. but some multinationals have no problems navigating these barriers.Regarding broker dealers not being able to clear trades, perhaps it might have something to do with the particular transaction?

Perhaps, but there are many foreign banks, including many of the large Singaporean banks that reach far into south Asia that will deal with you, if you are qualified.While the Sing Dollar is relatively strong right now, and real estate in Singapore is white hot, this is not true for Malaysia.

@Taylor Kitchens no difference than any other person who works and invests.. but as Josh suggests if your flying long haul you will have time to study... were I lived in the Napa valley we had about 30 plus pretty senior SF based guys most were very senior flying asia or transacon. and they had plenty of time actually would have to worry about getting their number of TO and Landings in :) lest they have to go to the sim. ... they loved golf...
