My in-laws have some family out in Danville / South Boston, and I've always wondered if it's worth investing.

I just moved here from the Boston area and it seems like the real estate taxes will make coming out of a deal with positive cash flow a very tricky endeavor.Jay

We've come to realize that the Boston market is too tough and the numbers don't make sense (to even house hack), so just recently, we decided to hone in on Plymouth, MA... with the idea that it could be a good tertiary market to do furnished rentals (thinking short-term/AirBnB in the summer, and mid-term in the offseasons).

I continue to scratch my head watching investors from New York and Boston whenever I meet them at Foreclosure Auctions in Connecticut.

. #3 was Salem, MA (Boston/Cambridge).

I am starting out as a small multi-family investor in the Boston area.

Details of my situation below...My wife & I are currently in the middle of  a 1031 Exchange where we're selling a condo in Boston and using the funds to purchase a triplex in Worcester.

My wife and I live just outside of the Boston area and are thinking very strongly about renting out our primary residence and moving abroad.

My conservative estimate with labor and transportation time was about 5 hours.
