I have found this to be immensely helpful.

Mainly interested in the south side because of its history and as an African American would like to be apart of the rebuilding of the area. 

I have a suggestion , learn everything , start with some construction , get a job earn while you learn the basics ( it helps immensely ) , Study and get your real estate license , you will have a whole group of your peers to identify with and get as buyers.  

Are there any South Africans out there who can point me in the right direction?

The fear of making a decision stops them in their tracks - and time after time, someone else buys and rehabs the property.These folks, nice though they are, can be immense time wasters for realtors.I'm looking for rehabbers who will use my market knowledge to evaluate an ARV, pull the trigger and list the rehabbed property with me.PS - In Massachusetts, I cover Plymouth, Bristol and Norfolk counties.  

You have many areas where it is immensely cheaper to rent than it is to buy.

I am focusing my attention on learning the multifamily investing model as I see that as something I would be good at and would enjoy doing immensely. 

Most people don’t have enough protection but they think they do because they operate under the guise that an llc helps them immensely which is not the case .
