Maybe someone else on this site can enlighten us all.However, regarding what is good for buyers:  In Maryland, there is “dual agency,” in which one agent/company can represent both the buyer and seller in the same transaction.

So given that, it would be very difficult to find a lender who will loan you the money.Personally I lived in Australia for 10 years but I'm lucky enough to have dual citizenship so I can go back and forth with no problem.
