It's a free country and you can do with it what you want.

The purchase of the land to create the subdivision was all very underhanded and the developer bought it from people many of which had moved out of the state or country and we’re paying maybe $300/year in taxes on their land.

Trust me, leverage is a game-changer that can speed up your path to wealth.The down payment is the most important part of getting a loan.

We are also living in an extremely extended period of relative calm in this country without major upheaval.

The benefit of the outskirts of town: easier to find new place to build, land is cheaper, still in the path of gentrification and appreciation due to proximity to SLC market, no HOA to deal with, much less permitting and red tape, and these lead to new builds, which has the benefits of maximizing costseg and minimizing maintenance and repairs because the build is brand new.Happy to discuss by videoconference if you want, and I can pay you for your time. 

There are many closer countries and beaches that are so much nicer and much more easily accessible, no further than Mexico to start with.Also, Colombians are no dummies.
