I concede that this will be difficult to execute in Charleston (affording a house with STR potential as a FTHB straight out of college), so you may have to take a stair-step approach.In the meantime, get involved with the local REI community.

The sink was cemented to the marble countertop so the repair isn't easy. 

I haven’t mentioned it, because I really enjoy this apartment and we feel very at home here, but you going up and down the stairs and slamming both of those doors so loudly have been an issue.

The laundry is in the basement so I have to go up and down the stairs to do laundry, enter the garden, access the alley, etc. 

However, the appraiser says that the stairs are of safety concern, and I need to be rebuild to code.
