Understand what is required first, don't some floors go before cabinets are set, some not, don't paint before the electrical guy, he should be one of the last ones out, a carpet layer can be the last guy out.

It generally works itself out but it adds a layer of complexity that is less in a single family home: Negotiating a good neighbor fence with the property owner of the rental house next door can be a pain, but, (short of an aggressive s dog in one yard or the other), it is generally less intense than a neibor's bathtub leaking into your unit, or vice versa.

That's practically impossible.A busted main sewer line is one of the major expenses that come bundled with buying aging property, like a roof with multiple layers of shingles or galvanized steel water piping that's rusting into it's internal diameter.
