Just wondering- If we keep it- should we just replace this whole type of siding to something that is more durable?

What you allow/don't  allow I think should be tied to the durability of the units,  and have the pet fee to match! 

Everything in the place needs to be chosen with an eye on durability (while still looking good) and easy clean-ability.Keep it simple and clean.  

Durability Regarding durability, BF is better than LF.

Exterior paints generally also have more Ti02 in the base to allow for better coverage and a more scrub-able/durable surface.

It may even give you a better idea of durable options you want for a landlord friendly rental (think: less to break/damage)..Looks like  Lee v.

Cannot speak much to BP members, as I am New here myself, but generally most people hesitate and Thank The Heavens above that they do.For many, many years, We made a living buying and selling at auctions, Antique, Durable Goods, Some Properties.....This was about the time Ebay had started.

You can always replace down the road but try to get durable stuff upfront.

Tile floors or high durable and water resistant laminate/linoleum etc, new coat of paint on the inside for sure, maybe new paint on the outside as well if really needed and get some reliable but not fancy appliances.
