I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the reason why you won't see it like this and why you will mostly see it like this: http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/25/topics/75416-how-to-make-a-proper-website-link is because too many bots/people will come on here for link juice and spam the crap out of us. for me personally, I don't click on the link, I'll hover my mouse over it, see the url itself, if it is recognizable, then, I'll click, open in new tab.
