You didn't say you had knowledge that the law office holding the escrow was in on this scam.

They don't know when things are wrong, and they don't know when they are getting skimmed or scammed.

Had to convince one of my sellers to get out of this scam recently.

Yes I've used them and its a big scam.

Another option is to buy an extended warranty - just check the fine print as many are borderline scams.

Even if you get nothing, you at least get the satisfaction of knowing it will hurt their credit and may prevent them from scamming another landlord or qualifying for a loan.
