If someone is going to redeem, it's usually going to be a commercial property, or a family farm, or something owned by a church.Change in law for mortgages signed after January 1, 2016: If the borrower claimed a homestead exemption for the ad valorem tax year immediately preceeding the auction, then the lender must give certain required notices to the borrower, and must also publish those notices in the newspaper foreclosure notice.

Many times (at least in my area) it won't be in the MLS because some MLS's don't allow the listing agent to put in auction properties in the system if there is an auction company involved (because it's not an exclusive listing and the auction company may not be a member of MLS).. long story short.. the auction website should still show you who the listing agent is (usually way down below).

Maybe read the Fair Housing and landlord/tenant laws and see if you are exempt as you say "first-time landlord" and there are certain exclusions if you have, I believe, less than 4 properties and manage them yourself.
