Also, you need to have plenty of parking, if you rent a 6-7 bedroom house out to 6-7 roommates, it needs plenty of parking for that.Most importantly, no HOA.

STR feels more like a strategy to break even or eek out a meager return on a great asset than a strategy to cashflow.

First step is: 1) Figure out your budget to fix this up to a nice condition. 2) What is it worth based on comparable values in the neighborhood. 3) Is there a worthwhile profit?

@Chris Seveney I for some reason recall when I lived up north in some locations heat went out and if it was longer than a specific peroid of time it would deem the unit uninhabitable - but I absolutely have been wrong in the past.

I can absolutely understand how these experiences have drained the joy out of owning rental properties.

I think all of your attention needs to be applied to paying down debt!
