I would welcome another inspector to help me ensure quality and safety on my projects but these guys/gals and many of the new building codes they're passing are mostly waists of time and money.Many of these codes are pushed by lobbyist that represent business or industries that sell the materials or services used in complying with the new code requirements.

Though not any very recently and never as an owner occupant so my exact experience isn't quite the same as what you are looking to do.Generally what other people have said is what I believe to also be true as in you need to live there for a year to comply with bidding during the exclusive owner occupant phase, but not at all if you do after that period.

To me this seems like it makes it almost impossible to completely comply with the requirements and scale your business to many small multifamily properties given the lack of reliability with sidewalk shovelers, inability to be at all properties at the same time, the fact that every means of egress needs clearing, the fact that it may not be physically possible to get to each property, the fact that snow is falling everywhere at the same time and can continuously fall so you can't stagger it and even after you clear it the snow can recover, and the seemingly blanket liability owned by the landlord if conditions are deemed unsafe because they weren't completely cleared when someone slipped and fell.
