I don't want to discourage you but if you are new (and this is an assumption) don't let too many shiny objects distract you from whatever you first goal is in this business.So if this fits into that category then full speed ahead!

Every minute there is a distraction from productive time on your business.  

I have been reading a lot about Multifamily Syndications and have been following a lot of syndication threads and listened to a lot of Podcasts on syndication investing.I am planning to invest $500000.00 in syndications in next 5 years .I am trying to write down my criteria for an investing but have been distracting from my ideas So I request the genius investors and syndicators here on bigger pockets to help me finalize my criteria and strategy for my investment. 

Not inclined to share him out and have him distracted while I still need him to get work done. :)

It's good to think about your systems before you get started, but spending time worrying about which notebook to buy is a distraction.

company, so I assume either he took good care of the property for cheap because he had readily available help/skills...which means it will be more expensive for me maintain the property at the same level; OR he may have been distracted by other business and I may have a bunch of DIY type work to deal with. 

It's much better to have laser focus on what you want to do and drown out the rest of the noise that are distractions to goals being achieved. 

I could finish out a room in my basement, but worry about the distractions from my 3yr old and wife.  

I have a full time job and I can’t afford to be distracted.
